Banana pudding is one of those weird things I love despite not really liking the main ingredient: bananas. I don’t care much for bananas or banana flavored candy. Banana pudding or banana bread, though? Sign me up, yesterday. (Hint: a banana bread dessert is coming up soon on the blog!) Do you have any foods like that? The kind that turn you in to some sort of riddle wrapped in a mystery inside a paradox? No? Just me…okay, well carry on then.
At any rate, I love banana pudding. It’s one of my comfort food faves. I wanted to see what the milkshake version of this would look like, so I played with a couple different recipes and finally came down to this one, a banana pudding milkshake. It includes all the usual ingredients, boosted with a couple of extras to send it over the top. Because, what would a milkshake here be if not over the top?
BANANA PUDDING MILKSHAKE
You will need:
- 1 1/2 cups of Vanilla Ice Cream
- 3 tablespoons Vanilla Pudding Mix
- 1/2 cup of Milk
- 15 Vanilla Wafer Cookies
- 1 banana
- Vanilla Frosting
- Caramel (for drizzle)
Pull out your milkshake mixer cup. Scoop your vanilla ice cream in, add the vanilla pudding mix, crumble a few wafers and a couple of pieces of banana. Pour your milk on top and use your immersion mixer to mix it all up. You should have a semi-thick shake. Pour about 1/3 of the milkshake on top of the layer of wafers and bananas you’ve already created. Add another layer of wafers, and another layer of bananas. Pour another 1/3 of your milkshake on top. Repeat this until you’ve filled up your glass and top with one final layer of wafers and bananas. It should look a little something like this:
Then you can add some caramel drizzle to the top for that little bit of something extra.
Plus, it just looks delicious. Now, go get a spoon!
Or maybe a few spoons and share?
